![]() ![]() To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's breakthrough Nevermind album which was released on Sep 24th 1991, two guitar giants Fender and Gibson introduced their respective artist signature instruments, the Kurt Cobain Jaguar® and Krist Novoselic Signature RD Bass to honor the musicians' impact on the sound of contemporary rock. The road-worn sunburst Jaguar is meticulously modeled after the battered and highly unusual 1965 Jaguar that Cobain wielded during the heady early-’90s era whereas the RD Bass is finished in Ebony Black nitrocellulose lacquer, the distinctive lines of the RD body shape cut. I remember growing up in my teens listening to Nirvana songs. Back in secondary school, I used to exchange cassette tapes with fellow grunge-alternative listeners in the early 1990s. I decided almost 10 years later to literally disposed off almost all my grunge music listening and tune in to nasheed and Quran instead. Time really flies. I still adore music in all its genres. I admire Cobain for his brilliance in songwriting craft and music that touched some parts of one's heart but I felt that he is still just a human being with errors. If I really need a role model, I had to turn to something genuinely sacred and positively inspiring like Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. May our youth find solace and guidance in the right kind of people. With the music that we are listening to nowadays, it's difficult to tell which ones are genuinely positive. - remykm p.s I would really like to own the Jaguar though... hehe. Oh well, whatever... nevermind. Labels: musings, Rasulullah |
